For now, try these steps:

• change the size to 100 by 100
• set the red, green, and blue values to 50
• check "do not change " for green and blue
• under the Red options, set the green weight and the blue weight to 0
• set the Red variance to 110
• click step a few times, until you reach a somewhat interesting pattern
• now change the Red variance to 20
• click step a few times
