Experimental Photography

While working with Kodalith film, it occured to me that, by eliminating the greys (and thus much of the detail), solely black & white images require one to either concentrate on the form of an image or replace the detail. I decided to replace the detail with detail of a different sort.

So what to replace the detail with? Given that i work with computers 24/7/365, i thought, "e-mail". In a manner reminiscient of old-school ascii art, I've removed most of the headers from all the e-mail certain people have ever sent me, and used the remaining text to replace all the black pixels in a solely black & white photo. What follows is the results. Each portrait is comprised solely of e-mail that individual has sent me.
